回覆刪除1. You haven't finalized your search. Using "OR" for all the strategies?
2. Is "stroke" a MeSH term? If yes, it is not included.
3. The results will include some or a lot of irrelevant papers. How to exclude them using search strategies.
4. Note that they're for Medline search only.

2. 找到的文獻完整，但很多篇不相關的(用了很多策略與詞彙，但缺乏排除不相關文獻的策略)
3. 找到的文獻完整且大多相關(用了很多策略與詞彙，也有策略排除不相關的文獻)
Thanks for your revisions. But I think your search results have lots of irrelevant articles.

How to exclude irrelevant papers using search strategies?

1. Use MeSH terms to exclude irrelevant articles
2. Use Boolean operator “ Not” to refine search
3. To narrow the textword search to adjacent words using the “adj” operator. For example: self adj care. tw.
“Sensitivity” is the ability of a search to retrieve relevant articles.
“Specificity” is the ability of the search to exclude irrelevant articles.
MeSH terms were used to locate the relevant studies and resulted in more precise searching but at a cost of lower sensitivity.
Text-word searching used free-text searching of all relevant fields to retrieve the studies of interest. It attempts to maximize retrieve by using a very wide range of search terms but has lower specificity.
To achieve an almost comprehensive retrieval, a combination of searching strategies (using MeSH terms and textword) is suggested in order to maximize the number of potentially relevant articles retrieved.
It has been suggested that search strategies may need to be over-inclusive so as not to miss any potentially relevant records but this necessitates a time consuming and costly process of screening for very small return.
To increase the sensitivity of a search, it could use the "explode" command and avoid using subheadings.
Regarding my search target, actually I don't have anything in mind. I just use these two terms as examples to demonstrate how to use search strategies.

I would like to see real examples (revisions) on your search strategies to exclude some irrelevant articles.
